Mark & Nick look happy to be spectators don't they?
All of Nick's running friends participated. Rich, Mike & Sandra ran the half while Ted and Regina did the whole thing.
Brandon was disappointed that he had to hang out and just watch. I bought him a T-shirt that says "Maybe Next Year..." and has a couple little kids standing at the starting line. Nick was equally disappointed to be on the sidelines this time round. I got him a LR marathon shirt that says "What Hills?"Jennifer and I walked the 5K in 50 minutes, knocking 10 minutes off our previous walk of the route by jogging a bit here & there. This is towards the beginning of the 5K - I think it was within the first mile. This is coming up on the finish line. Doesn't Jennifer look lively & refreshed? I wasn't feeling nearly as energetic as she was. This is after the 5K - see our medals? It felt good to do it. We're looking forward to trying it again. She already has a list of the next races she wants us to do. We've even made hotel reservations in Dallas so we can walk the half marathon there in December...
Jennifer wants to run the entire half next year in Little Rock. I'm willing to try to get to that point...It wasn't long before Brandon claimed my medal for his own. He was pretty happy when I let him have it, as you can see. After we got finished, we headed down to the ampitheater to watch the band play. The Peabody General Manager & Controller are in it. They sounded great & even talked to Brandon. He thought that was pretty cool. Laedyn stayed a ways back with Nick & ate graham crackers... After listening to the band for awhile, we headed to the sideline near the finish to cheer on the runners coming into the final stretch. Brandon enjoyed giving them high fives. We kept having to remind him not to get too far out in the road. Lots of runners detoured over to him when they saw his little arm sticking out. He was thrilled!Laedyn took a nap while we watched Nick's half marathon friends & the elite runners coming in. When Brandon wasn't cheering on the runners, he had to find other ways to amuse himself. We had a ball, but quickly decided to put it away, fearing it would roll out into the street & trip up a runner. So instead, Brandon picked up all kinds of stuff he found - mostly garbage - & we kept having to tell him not to touch. But he also made freinds with a little lady bug.

After we were done watching Nick's half marathon friends cross the finish line, we all went to Guisano's for pizza. Yummy. When we got home, we all took a nice long nap!
