HILLCREST PUMPKIN ROLL 2009
The folks in Hillcrest came up with a great way to dispose of your pumpkins post-Halloween - enter them in a contest to see which one could roll the farthest down one of the steep streets in the neighborhood. Some made it more than 3 blocks - all the way to Lee Street! Each pumpkin entered into the roll had to pay a small fee, which went to charity. We met Townley & her parents there and watched pumpkins roll for more than an hour.
The really big ones generally disintegrated before making it halfway down the first block.
Occasionally a medium sized one made it as far as the second block & everyone had to jump out of the way. Alot of the medium-sized ones that reached our corner would hit the curb and explode. Laedyn got splashed with pumpkin guts and was not happy about it. Brandon & Townley enjoyed examining the interior.Small bagel size/shape ones seemed to do the best. The kids really enjoyed themselves.
Next year I'll be choosing my pumpkins carefully with the thought of the Pumpkin Roll in mind.

Halloween 2009 - Brandon wanted to be Spongebob this year. I had a hard time choosing for Laedyn, so when Brandon said he wanted to chase Jellyfish with a net just like Spongebob does on TV, I thought she would be a perfect little jellyfish.Laedyn really liked the idea of trick-or-treating. Her favorite thing of the evening was these ghost decorations. They made her laugh & laugh. Brandon had a little difficulty maneuvering as Spongebob. He could see fine out of the eyes (they're privacy screen painted white), but steps and narrow porches gave him some trouble. The quote of the night? "Mommy, it's not easy being Spongebob."
Last year Laedyn was terrified of this spider and kept her distance. This year, she thought it was kind of funny. YUCK!
